Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant for Lagos State, Musiliu Obanikoro has criticized the winner of the party’s primaries, Jimi Agbaje over recent comments attributed to him.
Obanikoro
warned Agbaje to shun desperation and refrain from further tarnishing
his reputation through attempts to justify the conduct of the primaries.
Obanikoro
was responding to a statement made by Agbaje’s media team claiming that
the six PDP aspirants had agreed to add the names of some omitted
delegates to the total tally leading to a final figure of 864 as against
the 806 delegates who actually voted.
The statement was reportedly made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) by Agbaje’s Director of Media and Publicity, Felix Oboagwina.
In response, Obanikoro tweeted:
“For the records, there was never any agreement between me or any aspirant or anyone whosoever to accommodate any excess votes.”
“Jimi Agbaje should not in desperation to defend Monday’s immoral and unethical show of shame, further tarnish his reputation.”
“If
at all there was any agreement, it was an agreement between Bode George
and Jimi Agbaje to compromise the outcome of the primaries!”
“The
claim by Agbaje that we were in agreement over the excess votes is
dishonest and unbecoming of a man who wants to be Lagos governor.”
Agbaje has also responded to the statement via Twitter saying that its contents are untrue.
“I
want to take this time to address the miscommunication from my PR team.
Statements made in this article are untrue,” he tweeted.
“I want to clearly state that the aspirants never agreed to add the omitted delegates to the total tally.”
“I apologize to my co-aspirants for this miscommunication and issues it may have caused them,” he added.
Agbaje
was declared the winner of the governorship primaries which held on
December 9, but Obanikoro has vehemently rejected the results of the
poll stating that it was a sham.
